Correctional Massage
Massage can be used as a complementary or stand alone therapy to reduce pain, improve range of movement and relieve tension. As a qualified massage therapist and a member of Massage New Zealand, I specialise in a range of massage techniques to help your body work at 100%.
SPORTS MASSAGE - A programme of massage to assist the athlete in achieving their potential or optimal performance. It is used to help prevent injuries, to prepare the body for athletic activity and maintain it in optimal condition, and to help athletes recover from workouts and injuries.
DEEP TISSUE MANIPULATION - Designed to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of massage is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding joints) and tendons.
TRIGGER POINT THERAPY - A bodywork technique that involves the application of pressure to specified points on tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body, and bring about reduction to muscle tension.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE - Is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
PREGNANCY MASSAGE - Therapeutic bodywork that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.

Functional Movement Screening
Play to your strengths, and work on your weaknesses
The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is a way to assess seven essential movement patterns in people with or without pain, limitations or injuries. Everyone can benefit from a Functional Movement Screen (FMS), especially those who experience tightness and weakness in the body.
Benefits of FMS:
- Injury Prevention
- Pain Identification
- Systematic Approach
- Repeatable
- Imbalance correction
How Does it Work?
The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) helps prevent injuries before they occur focusing on seven patterns that identify:
- Functional Limitations
- Symmetry and balance across all major joints
- Faulty bio-mechanics and movement patterns
- Muscle Imbalances
At the initial assessment we discuss where you are experiencing pain or discomfort, and perform an FMS test to pinpoint your movement patterns, balance and limitations. Then I develop a personalised programme to correct the imbalances which can be done at the gym or in your home, and after 4 weeks we re-screen to get feedback on how your body is responding to the new patterning, and enable you to perform at your best.
Many people start a new exercise regime or sport, unaware of the way their body compensates for their weaknesses, which can result in injuries. Getting an FMS before you start is the best way to prevent injuries and perform optimally.
